Nguyen Bich Dat

Present Position: Vice Minister, Ministry of Planning and Investment

Before being promoted Vice Minister in May 2003, he served in various positions in the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI). He was elected Deputy Director General of Investment Promotion and Legislation in 1993 and Director General of Foreign Investment in 1997. Dr. Dat began his career with the University of Commerce, where he became the Head of Statistics Faculty in 1983, the Head of Science Department in 1988 and Vice Rector of the University in 1989.

A 1971 graduate of the University of Commerce, Dr. Dat attended the Leipzig Trade University – Germany and earned a Doctor Degree in Science and Economics in 1982. Dr. Dat was granted National Associate Professor in 1991. He is the author of a number of studies, researches and articles on foreign investment in Vietnam.
