Gwen was appointed to the position of Vice President, Power and Environmental Policy Australia/Asia, in Alstom Power Systems in June 2008. She is responsible for working with governments in Australia/NZ and South East Asia to represent the company’s views on matters of environmental policy and regulation.
A high ranking bureaucrat in the Australian Government, Gwen was the first Chief Executive of the Australian Greenhouse Office (now subsumed in the Department of Climate Change) from 1998 to 2002. Prior to that, she had been General Manager, Budget, for the Department of Finance and Administration, and held several other senior posts in the Australian public service. She left Australia in 2002 to move to the UK, where she headed up a local council in Hampshire for five years, returning to Australia in early 2008.
Gwen is a Canadian by birth and spent her early career in the Canadian public service. Her experience working in three different public services, and now in the private sector, on environmental, financial and management issues, gives her a broad perspective on some of the key challenges facing industry and government today.
Gwen is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
