Lothar Herrmann, 52, assumed the position of CEO Siemens ASEAN in April 2008. In addition, Lothar is also President and CEO, Siemens Pte Ltd (SPL) since February 2009. Prior to the appointment to SPL, Lothar was the President and CEO of Siemens Limited Thailand since 2005
Born in Germany, Lothar received his Masters Degree of International Economics, majoring in Foreign Trade and International Business Administration in August 1980.
Following his graduation, Lothar has undertaken a number of management positions, most of which were related to International Business. He moved to Vietnam in 1981 where he lived for two years before relocating to China where he resided for the next four years.
Lothar joined Siemens AG in January 1991 Manager for International Regions and was subsequently posted to Dhaka as the Managing Director of Siemens Ltd Bangladesh, before returning to Germany as Senior Manager for International Regions.
In June 1995, he assumed the position of Director of Corporate Strategy of Siemens Ltd, China (SLC), and the Head of Task Force China in Beijing, where he was pivotal in converting SLC from a representative office to an operating company. His efforts resulted in the establishment of more than 40 operating companies across China.
Lothar was subsequently posted back to Germany for two years where he served as Vice President of International Operations North-West Europe. He returned to China in 2001 as the General Manager of Fossil Power Generation Joint Ventures (PG) of SLC.
On 1 October 2002, he was appointed General Manager for Power Generation Group (PG) of SLC, responsible for the overall business activities in the Chinese Market. At the same time, Lothar also held additional positions as Vice President of SLC and Vice President, Sales New Plants and Services – China, Siemens AG.
Over the next four years, Lothar led the group to manage a turnaround program in the former Westinghouse Joint Ventures, successfully restructured existing and established new manufacturing sites, led the division into new business fields and developed the power generation business in China.
In addition to his responsibilities in Siemens, Lothar is also a board member of the Singaporean German Chamber of Industry & Commerce, and a panel member of Singapore’s Economics Strategies Committee. The Economics Strategies Committee’s mission is to review the Singapore economy and craft ways to help it thrive.
